written when & who for?Matthew was said to be have been written in between the years of 70 AD to 80 AD.
Matthew was written for fairly well educated Jews. In the Gospel, it refers to Hebrew Scriptures and customs quite frequently, suggesting that the people it was planned for must have been those who had converted from Judaism. It has been debated that it may have also been aimed at Gentiles. |

how is it different?
Servant, God: what other glorious image could Jesus be seen as?
King of course. Matthew is a book depicting Jesus as the man who keeps his
promises in regards to the prophets from the Old Testament. In the Old
Testament, a man/human/thing/ (Jesus) is said to come and be the ‘Deliverer for
the Jews’, which funny enough is what happened! To add to that, Jesus was the
one special person chosen by God himself to bring redemption to the entire
world.
