introduction
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are known as the Four Evangelists;
the authors of the gospels in the New Testament. Each of the gospels is named after one of the four Evangelists. Each Evangelist has a symbol which reflects the overall sentiment of that individual gospel. John is quite different when compared to the other Gospels. Matthew, Mark and Luke don’t say as much about Jesus as a god; in reference to him, he is seen as more as a human-like character. They mostly describe what he did and who he was. There is more about the Four Evangelists and the differences in the stories in the individual pages of this site. |
website info.
Due to historical inaccuracies and other factors, certain dates
do vary from source to source. In relation to this website, the exact dates of
when the Gospels were written is unknown and given the fact that it is
speculated that the gospels were each written by several people, we can only
roughly estimate the dates based off information we have access to.
Also, an intended audience for each Gospel varies; it is thought
that they were aimed at specific groups, but once again it depends on the
resource you choose to use and the opinion of individual people.
